Alma "Con Sazon" Gonzalez

Trained in ballet as a child, I lost my connection to dance over the years.  In 1996, I began taking salsa lessons and quickly developed a passion for it.  In 1999, I joined The Mambo Mamas - the first ever professional salsa dance company comprised solely of plus-size women.  A year later, I founded Dancers Con Sazon of which I was the Artistic Director until i retired in 2015.  As a choreographer, I received nominations for our signature routine "Cua Cua" in 2001 and "Sofrito" in 2003.  After a ten year break, a video of me dancing socially surfaced on Youtube and went viral.  "Big Lady Kills Salsa" garnered over 1 million views in less than a week and sparked a surge of requests to return to dancing.  I have been blessed to have learned from the founders of Salsa on 2 - Eddie Torres, Jimmy Anton, Freddie Rios - directly and to have some of today's leading instructors as personal friends and advisors especially Addie Diaz & Tomas Guerrero.

In the Hudson Valley, where I currently reside, I am offering challenging yet fun classes that teach specialty techniques such as styling, cha cha and pachanga.  My classes are meant to help dancers develop their own sazon!
